Vessel

I explore the notion of the human body as a container for something profound and beautiful that transcends the physical form. The seven male figurative works depict nude bodies adorned with delicate floral elements like baby's breath, lilies, daisies, vines, eucalyptus, and irises arranged in ambiguous sculptural compositions.

My intent is to reclaim the objectification of the body by presenting it as a worthy vessel meant to carry something sacred within. The soft, gentle lighting casts an aura of reverence around each figure. Though the pieces may initially appear to reduce the subjects to mere objects, I aim to elevate them to emblems of the endless capacity for inner beauty, truth and self- acceptance we all possess.

This body of work represents my own journey towards self-love and feeling at home in my own skin. By adorning these figures with flowers symbolic of beauty, purity and rebirth, I acknowledge the resilience of the human spirit. We are all imperfect vessels, but no less valuable for containing our multifaceted dreams, identities and experiences.

Through "vessel", I invite viewers to look beyond the physical body and see the inherent preciousness in what it holds - the enormous yet fragile depths of our inner selves waiting to blossom. We are far more than mere objects; we are wonderous, sacred receptacles for the intangible.
