Food is not just about sustenance, it's a celebration of culture, creativity, and passion. Whether it's a perfectly cooked steak, a colorful bowl of salad, or a decadent dessert, food has the power to evoke emotions and create memories. And when it comes to capturing the essence of food in photos or creating dishes that are as delicious as they are visually stunning, there are some talented food photographers and chefs out there who are true artists. In this post, I'm going to introduce you to some of my personal favorites who always inspire me with their work.
Felicia Perretti
Felicia is a talented food and beverage photographer based in New York City. Her photographic style seamlessly blends classic themes with modern takes, resulting in images that are not only appetizing, but also creative and exciting. As a photographer myself, I find myself constantly inspired by Felicia's work. She has a remarkable ability to combine two seemingly disparate styles, resulting in photographs that are both cutting-edge and classically composed. Her attention to detail is evident in every image she produces, with each dish and drink perfectly arranged to highlight its most enticing qualities. Felicia's work has earned her a reputation as one of the best in the business, and it's not hard to see why. Her photographs are a true feast for the eyes.
Laura Murray
Have you heard of Laura? She's an incredibly talented artist who's worked with some big names, including Martha Stewart, Bon Appétit magazine, and Keurig. What I love most about her work is how she blends products and people in her lifestyle shots, creating punchy and dynamic images. Her lighting techniques are also top-notch - she's not afraid to experiment and try new things, which is super inspiring to me as a photographer. Her photos are creative, technical, and capture the mood and moment perfectly. Laura is definitely one of the best lifestyle photographers out there, and I can't wait to see what she produces next.
Claire Saffitz
One of my favorite pastry chefs of all time and one of the people who really got me into baking is Claire Saffitz (I own both of her cookbooks of course). While not a photographer, I love Claire’s recent brand direction since departing from Bon Appetite magazine. I think she is an amazing example of someone who puts a lot of heart and soul into her craft, and the results definitely show. I continue to make her recipes regularly and hope to eventually develop my own one day. I definitely take a lot of inspiration from Claire’s work as a chef.
Noah Fecks
Noah Fecks is an incredibly talented photographer who's always pushing the boundaries with his work. What I love most about his photography is his outside-the-box thinking - he creates fun and quirky shots that are unlike anything I've seen before. Fecks' collaborations with queer artists, including drag queens, add a campy and almost couture-esque quality to his photographs, making them even more unique and exciting. If you're looking for something fresh and inspiring on your feed, I highly recommend checking out Noah Fecks' work. He's a true original and one of my favorite photographers.
Joanne Molinaro
I first discovered Joanne on my TikTok for You page and have been following her for a few years now. I love Joanne's inspiring stories about life experiences, childhood, and words of inspiration. Joanne has taught me a lot about your experiences can shape your craft and passions. I am always deeply inspired by her work and have enjoyed seeing her branching from her social media content to create a cook book and developing other exciting ventures for herself.
